Alfredo Ramos Martínez (1871–1946) spent his formative years immersed in the artistic life of Paris. He returned to Mexico in 1910 on the eve of the country’s Revolution. He became the director of the famed Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in Mexico City and established the nation’s first open air schools and encouraged his pupils to create work that captured observations of daily life.

All animal lovers are encouraged to get the kids out on Thanksgiving Day to venture out to the Santa Barbara Zoo for one of the seasons most entertaining events. Crate a new Thanksgiving Day tradition from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., watching gorillas, otters and other Santa Barbara Zoo animals play and interact with pumpkins.
