Featuring seven playhouses constructed primarily of plant-based materials, this exhibition aims to encourage kids of all ages to play in nature while sharing the importance of plants in everyday life.

Love biking? So do we. Join this bike ride that is great for all skill levels. Ride your way through some of the area’s most loved locations including the Santa Barbara Mission, enjoy the guided bike tour.
5:00 PM at Shoreline Drive
Spend a family evening on the Santa Barbara shoreline, built around a 5K Fun Run. Swimmers can participate in one of two aquathon distances, 1K or 2000 meters. You can opt to choose between the traditional 1K swim and 3.5 mile run, or test your skills on the 2000 meter Open Ocean Swim.

Browse through the many attractions while you are waiting for the fireworks show to begin. Try the face painting while enjoying some festive treats including ice cream, sherbet, candy, popcorn, fudge, and cotton candy. Watch the fireworks after dark from one of the best locations in the city with the display shooting off right next to Stearns Wharf.

The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum will be hosting the 17th annual Kardboard Kayak Race Team Challenge, in conjunction with Semana Nautica. Challenging different families and teams to participate in a battle of wits, creativity, design, and courage. Construct a functioning kayak out of chosen materials.

Learn the basics of sculptural and functional ceramics including hand building and wheel throwing in a fun and relaxed environment. Students can play with and create simple clay forms. Museum of Contemporary Art
The upcoming solo exhibition and US museum debut of independent American filmmaker and artist James Benning: Quilts, Cigarettes & Dirt (Portraits of America), will happen on July 9, 2019. For over 40 years of exploring the film medium, Benning has engaged with history, memory, and documentary traditions, often encompassing a rigorous treatment of the American landscape.

Have a fun night for a cause. Gather with the Franciscan Friars, staff and volunteers of Old Mission Santa Barbara for some wine, beer, appetizers, and live music in the beautiful Sacred Garden. Proceeds of the event will benefit the Mission Preservation Fund for the conservation and preservation of art, artifacts, buildings, and the Historic Cemetery.

Women in Science is a creative body of work by Nicole Berry, which uses the practice of portrait photography to expose how social prejudices influence the way we perceive who and what is a scientist in our world. Explore portraits of female scientists in this exhibition and hear the stories and life moments that inspired some of these scientists to pursue their career paths.

An enjoyable Santa Barbara bike tour that is designed to show the beauty of coastal Santa Barbara. Ride along on the coastal bluffs amongst eucalyptus groves, watch the surf, and see quaint neighborhoods and orchards.

Disney’s Newsies is based on the 1992 motion picture, which features a score by eight-time Academy Award® winner Alan Menken and Jack Feldman, and a book by four-time Tony Award® winner Harvey Fierstein. This timely and fresh fictionalized adaptation of Newsies addresses age-old themes of social injustice, exploitative labor practices, and David-versus-Goliath struggles.

Come and join the Art Kitchen/Science Studio where teaching Artists use works of art from the Museum's collection as a starting point to explore the shared materials, methods, and myths associated with art, food, and science. There will be a hands-on demonstration, experimentation, taste testing, and art making, providing the perfect recipe for learning.

Santa Barbara Maritime Museum
Works of over 150 artists and their views of our ocean, coastal vistas, and Santa Barbara’s maritime life will be featured in an exhibit that will benefit Santa Barbara Maritime Museum. The Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment (SCAPE) and the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum (SBMM) made this event possible.

100 of the Music Academy of the West fellows comprise this orchestra, these talented young musicians attend the annual Summer Festival on full scholarship. The orchestra’s members are drawn from America’s leading schools and conservatories, to represent the nation’s finest young musicians. The orchestra performs each summer under the baton of such eminent conductors.

Browse through this intimate exhibition curated by Kendall H. Brown, Professor of Japanese Art History at California State University, Long Beach. It was known that The Tōkaidō, or Eastern Sea Road, was formed in the 17th century to link Japan’s old imperial capital, Kyoto, with the new warrior capital, Edo (modern Tokyo). Come view a rare surviving set of scrolls and wood block art by amazing landscape artists.
