Get ready for some splish splash fun! Parents of small children and toddlers who live in Santa Barbara can enjoy the City of Santa Barbara's wading pools for free this summer. Free swim for youth aged seven and younger will continue through the end of August, near your Santa Barbara home.
Through Friday, August 17th, your child can enjoy free reign of the West Beach Wading Pool, found next to Los Baños Pool on 401 Shoreline Drive, due to a Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise grant. Pool weekday hours are 12 to 4 p.m. For weekend swimming, the Oak Park Wading Pool, located at 300 West Alamar Avenue, will remain open through Sunday, August 26th daily between 12 and 5 p.m.
While each pool does have a city lifeguard monitoring for safety, parents (or a responsible adult) are required to accompany children to the pool. Bathing suits and approved swim diapers, if needed, are required, too. Older children, between the ages of eight and thirteen can swim for free at Ortega Park Pool, located at 600 N. Salsipuedes Street, through August 17th, too, on weekdays from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Residents of all ages can swim at the Los Baños Pool for a small fee of $1 per child and $4 per adult from 2:15-3:45 p.m. daily Monday through Saturday.
